David Baldacci Standalone Novels
These can generally be read independently of Baldacci’s recurring thriller series:
Absolute Power — 1996
Total Control — 1997
The Winner — 1997
The Simple Truth — 1998
Saving Faith — 1999

A Calamity of Souls is a courtroom drama set in Virginia in 1968, while Strangers in Time is a World War II novel set in 1940s London.
David Baldacci Books for Younger Readers
Baldacci has also written books outside his adult thriller catalog.
Freddy and the French Fries
Freddy and the French Fries: Fries Alive! — 2005
Freddy and the French Fries: The Mystery of Silas Finklebean — 2006
Vega Jane Series
The Finisher — 2014
The Keeper — 2015
The Width of the World — 2017
The Stars Below — 2019
The 39 Clues
Day of Doom — 2013
An official Baldacci bibliography also separates these books from his adult novels.
Short Stories, Novellas & Other Works
I would move items like Bullseye and No Time Left out of the main novel chronology and place them here instead.
That keeps the primary list much cleaner and avoids making readers think a novella or anthology is a full installment in one of the series.
You can also place collaborative anthologies such as FaceOff and No Rest for the Dead in a separate “Anthologies and Contributions” subsection rather than mixing them with Baldacci’s novels.
Which David Baldacci Book Should You Read First?
There is no single required starting point because most of Baldacci’s series are independent from one another.
For readers who want a modern thriller series, The 6:20 Man is the beginning of the Travis Devine books.
For mystery fans, Memory Man introduces Amos Decker.
For readers who enjoy government conspiracy thrillers, The Camel Club is the beginning of one of Baldacci’s longest-running series.
If you want one of his newer series, start with Nash Falls before reading Hope Rises.
And if you prefer a standalone novel, books such as Absolute Power, A Calamity of Souls, and Strangers in Time can be read without following another series first.
What Is David Baldacci’s Newest Book?
As of September 2026, the newest published David Baldacci novel is Hope Rises, released on April 14, 2026 by Grand Central Publishing. It is the second Walter Nash thriller and follows Nash Falls.
His next scheduled novel is All In, the fourth Travis Devine thriller, releasing November 10, 2026.
That section is especially valuable for this post because we can keep changing only those two paragraphs whenever he announces a new book.
