Oprah’s Book Club is celebrating another year of memorable reading selections in 2026, with picks ranging from sweeping family stories and literary fiction to emotionally powerful debuts.
Unlike some other celebrity book clubs, Oprah does not necessarily announce a new selection every month. Instead, new picks arrive throughout the year whenever Oprah chooses a book she wants to share with readers.
So far, the official 2026 list includes books by Tayari Jones, Maria Semple, Douglas Stuart, Sophie Chen Keller, and Amanda Rizkalla.
In this guide, we’ve gathered every official Oprah’s Book Club selection announced in 2026, along with a look at what each book is about and where you can find available editions.

Oprah’s Book Club Picks for 2026
February 2026: Kin by Tayari Jones
Oprah’s Book Club Selection #121
📅 Announced: February 24, 2026
✍️ Author: Tayari Jones
Kin became Oprah’s 121st Book Club selection in February 2026. The official Oprah list identifies the novel as the next selection following Some Bright Nowhere.
The novel follows two motherless girls from the fictional Louisiana town of Honeysuckle who grow up as inseparable “cradle friends.” Their lives eventually move in different directions: Vernice leaves for Spelman College in Atlanta, while Annie goes to Memphis searching for the mother who disappeared from her life.
The story explores friendship, family, identity, separation, and the bonds that continue even when people’s lives take dramatically different paths.
April 2026: Go Gentle by Maria Semple
Oprah’s Book Club Selection #122
📅 Announced: April 14, 2026
✍️ Author: Maria Semple
Go Gentle by Maria Semple became Oprah’s 122nd Book Club selection in April.
The novel follows Adora Hazzard, a divorced Stoic philosopher living on New York City’s Upper West Side. Adora believes she has discovered the secret to happiness by learning to want only what she already has—but an unexpected romantic encounter begins disrupting her carefully ordered life.
The story blends romance, humor, family relationships, personal reinvention, and even international intrigue.
Go Gentle was published April 14, 2026 by G.P. Putnam’s Sons, with hardcover and large-print editions among the available formats.
May 2026: John of John by Douglas Stuart
Oprah’s Book Club Selection #123
📅 Announced: May 5, 2026
✍️ Author: Douglas Stuart
Booker Prize-winning author Douglas Stuart joined Oprah’s Book Club in May with John of John, the club’s 123rd selection.
The novel follows a young man returning to his rural Scottish home, where family relationships, religion, masculinity, identity, and long-held secrets collide.
At the center of the story are three generations living under one roof: a father, his son, and the son’s grandmother. The novel explores what happens when secrets held by each member of the family begin threatening both the household and the surrounding community.
June 2026: Little Wonder by Sophie Chen Keller
Oprah’s Book Club Selection #124
📅 Announced: June 16, 2026
✍️ Author: Sophie Chen Keller
Little Wonder became Oprah’s 124th Book Club selection in June.
The novel centers on Song and her young son River, who become separated in the enormous crowds of a Beijing train station.
What follows is a story about the bond between mother and child as both spend years trying to find their way back to one another.
Oprah highlighted the enduring love at the heart of the novel, while Keller has said that her own experiences of motherhood helped inspire the story.
October 2026: Hungered by Amanda Rizkalla
Oprah’s Book Club Selection #125
📅 Announced: October 6, 2026
✍️ Author: Amanda Rizkalla
The newest selection is Hungered by Amanda Rizkalla, Oprah’s 125th Book Club pick.
The debut novel is told from the perspective of 12-year-old Sofia, whose family is experiencing homelessness.
Rizkalla drew partly from her own childhood experience of losing housing and living in a car with her family. The novel looks beyond the daily struggle for survival to explore family, belonging, humor, compassion, and the ways people continue finding moments of joy during difficult circumstances.
Oprah described the book as a powerful look into the lives of unhoused families and their resilience.

📖 What Is Oprah’s Book Club?
Oprah’s Book Club was launched by Oprah Winfrey in 1996 and has grown into one of the best-known book clubs in publishing.
Over the years, Oprah has selected fiction, memoirs, nonfiction, classics, literary novels, and books from both established writers and emerging authors.
Unlike the GMA Book Club, Oprah’s Book Club does not necessarily choose one title every calendar month. New selections can be announced at different points throughout the year.
The official list has now reached 125 selections with Amanda Rizkalla’s Hungered.
